In the soft fruit sector, climate screens are not yet as widely used as they are in vegetable cultivation. However, this sector is starting to consider utilizing climate screens in it’s applications, mostly because of high has prices. At Delphy ISFC in Horst, tests are being conducted to determine if the sustainable cultivation of strawberries - with intensive use of climate screens and vertical fans - can be done with half the gas. The initial results are promising.

Hacienda El Carmen Hotel & Spa, one of the most representative properties of the Valles region with more than 400 years of history, knows how to take advantage of its geographical location and the mild climate in the state of Jalisco for growing tomatoes and peppers. In 2017, a greenhouse was built with the objective of learning about specialized processes for greenhouse crops. Glass that combines an AR coating with a low-e coating can save about 22% additional energy, research by Wageningen UR Greenhouse Horticulture has shown. The anti-reflection coating increases light transmission, while the low-emission coating reduces heat loss from the greenhouse. This is a new type of glass from AGCulture, with which Svensson has started a strategic cooperation.

Monitoring the air surrounding crops is just as crucial as monitoring greenhouse watering practices. Vertical airflow offers growers greater control over greenhouse temperature and air movement, which helps eliminate stagnant air, cold spots, and hot zones that can harm crops.

Floraplant is a nursery of 109 hectares dedicated to the production of cuttings, seedlings and seeds in Tetecalita, Morelos, Mexico. This 100% Mexican-owned company founded in 1991, was looking for a climate solution to efficiently keep insects and pests out of the greenhouse while maintaining good airflow. With the installation of Xsect Xtreme, Floraplant achieved the objective of excluding the entry of thrips without affecting the climate.
