At Sparbanken Sjuhärad Ägarstiftelse in Borås, a 19th-century building has been given a contemporary interior that respects its original character. Working closely with the client, project manager and interior designer Pernilla Sackemark at Input Interiör has created a workplace where Svensson textiles bring together colour, texture and acoustic comfort.
High ceilings, beautiful wooden floors and generous rooms provide a distinctive setting for Sparbanken Sjuhärad Ägarstiftelse. Behind the historic architecture lies a modern workplace accommodating everything from everyday office work to board meetings and larger gatherings.
“The aim was to bring together a modern office and a beautiful old property. Everything needed to feel contemporary and functional, but also timeless and in harmony with the architecture,” explains Pernilla Sackemark, project manager and interior designer at Input Interiör.
Input Interiör was responsible for the overall interior design, working closely with the client to create a sense of continuity through furniture, materials, colours and textiles.
With generous ceiling heights and large windows, the hanging textiles have a strong presence in the rooms. At the same time, acoustic comfort was an important consideration, particularly in spaces used for meetings and conversations.
“Textiles contribute so much to the overall experience of a room. They bring warmth and character, but they can also help create a more comfortable sound environment,” says Pernilla.
To create continuity throughout the premises, Pernilla selected four Svensson textiles: Dual, Interact, Seam and Mint. Each brings a different expression, while subtle connections in colour and materiality tie the rooms together.
In the offices and meeting rooms, Dual was chosen for its acoustic properties and refined two-tone weave. Its subtle shimmer adds depth without drawing attention away from the room itself.
For the lounge, Interact introduces a more graphic expression. Its woven structure and carefully balanced colours complement the relaxed seating area, creating an inviting space for informal conversations.
In the large conference room, Seam was selected in a soft, shell-inspired off-white. Its understated texture and gentle lustre sit naturally alongside the oak flooring and three large oak tables.
At a bay window, Mint makes the most of the generous natural light. Used as a curtain, the textile allows daylight to filter through, creating a soft and airy expression that complements the room's historic character.
“The colours are closely related, even if you might not notice it immediately. Different weaving techniques and subtle variations in tone create individual expressions, but everything belongs together,” Pernilla explains.
The conference room is designed to accommodate both smaller discussions and larger gatherings. Flexible furniture arrangements, combined with carefully selected materials and textiles, create a calm and comfortable atmosphere.
The project also reflects an appreciation for Swedish design and production. For Pernilla, working with Svensson means access to textile expertise and a strong manufacturing tradition. The local connection is particularly meaningful in Borås, a city with deep roots in the Swedish textile industry.
“There are so many skilled companies in Sweden, and it is important that we continue to value that knowledge and production. Svensson has a long history and a great deal of textile expertise, which makes them a natural partner for us.”
The result is a workplace where contemporary needs meet historic character, shaped through close collaboration and carefully considered material choices.
An interior where textiles do more than complete the room. They help shape how it looks, sounds and feels.
