Designing sounds

The interaction between sound and visual design is becoming increasingly important for our experience of public spaces. Designing Sounds is an exploration of this dynamic. A way of inspiring a more holistic design philosophy. In public spaces, our senses are bombarded with information – today more than ever. This means a kind of constant overload, making it even more important to understand how different sensory impressions, such as sound and visual design, work together to shape our experience of the place we are in.

The concept of Designing Sounds is the result of an endeavour to talk about our sound-rated textiles and go beyond decibels, reverberation, and numbers. We want to look up, take in the whole picture, and explore how our different senses work and are affected together.

By combining both aesthetic and acoustic aspects, we can arrive at a more holistic view of design. It is not just a question of minimising disruptive noise or creating visually appealing spaces, but rather understanding how these elements interact and affect people's psychological and physical well-being. Our ambition is to provide you with added value in the form of insights and inspiration regarding the meeting between our senses. Based on facts and research, but transformed into advice and guidelines that we hope will bring life to the creative process and spark new paths or inspire new ideas.
