When Annie Lee Jönsson and Denise Gons created BonBon, they had a clear ambition: to design something that would add a new layer of expression to public spaces.
BonBon is a collection of jacquard-woven wool upholstery fabrics featuring six different graphic patterns. Stripes, checks, waves and organic forms—classic motifs, reinterpreted. The inspiration came from traditional double-cloth textiles and contemporary graphic expressions.
Annie Lee Jönsson and Denise Gons first met while both were working in Amsterdam. They quickly discovered that they shared the same design language and have continued to develop it through various collaborations.
Annie and Denise describe the BonBon process as an intuitive design journey in which boundaries were blurred. They sent ideas and sketches back and forth without any clear division of roles. In this creative dialogue it ultimately became impossible to tell who had done what, resulting in a collection where each pattern stands as strongly on its own as it does in relation to the whole.
The six patterns emerged through a mix of analogue and digital methods. Sketches and multiple sample weaves alternated with detailed refinements and meticulous work on the collection’s colour palette.
“BonBon is intended as that extra element that can elevate a room. Whether it’s used to define an entire surface or to create focal points, the idea behind the collection is to invite creativity into every interior,” says Annie.
