HilverdaFlorist constructs new greenhouse with Svensson's PARperfect, Luxous, Harmony, and Obscura

  • Greenhouse:
    HilverdaFlorist
  • Location:
    De Kwakel, the Netherlands
  • Crop:
    Pot plants
  • Challenge:
    Precise light and humidity control
  • Solution:
    PARperfect Luxous, Obscura and Harmony

SEPTEMBER 2022

For the construction of HilverdaFlorist’s new greenhouse complex in De Kwakel, the Netherlands, an extensive and precisely tuned climate screen installation was selected. The site consists of 11 separate greenhouse departments with a total of 26 individual screen installations, allowing each zone to be controlled according to the exact needs of the crop.

The PARperfect screen control system enables screens to open and close continuously based on measured internal radiation levels. This creates a stable and predictable greenhouse climate, independent of changing external light conditions. According to the grower, this automated approach simplifies climate management while delivering greater consistency for the crop.

HilverdaFlorist’s production environment includes multiple crop phases, some lasting as little as five weeks. Each phase requires specific light levels and diffusion. To accommodate this, the greenhouse is divided into separate departments, each equipped with a climate screen combination tailored to the crop stage.

Two screen configurations were selected for the project. Seven departments use Harmony 2047 FR combined with Obscura 10070 FR WB+BW. Four departments are equipped with a three-screen system consisting of Harmony 2047 FR, Obscura 10070 FR WB+BW, and Luxous 1147 FR. These combinations allow precise control of light transmission, diffusion, and humidity management.

By combining advanced climate control with diffuse greenhouse glass, a uniform light distribution is achieved across the crop, minimizing shadow patterns and reducing plant stress. Screen positions are automatically adjusted by the climate computer based on target radiation levels, supporting efficient propagation and hardening of young plants.
