Mondo Verde is a large ornamental plant grower in the Netherlands that recently expanded its greenhouse operations. For the new cultivation halls, the company needed a climate screen strategy that could support both energy savings and homogeneous plant growth throughout the year.
After careful evaluation, the project team chose Svensson’s PARperfect climate screen solution, installing it with the help of long-time partner SchermNed.
Balancing light and energy in large greenhouses
According to the Mondo Verde team, one of the biggest challenges in modern greenhouse production is achieving a uniform climate without excessive energy use. Especially in large cultivation areas, conventional single-screen installations can struggle to deliver stable light levels across the crop canopy. To address this, the growers at Mondo Verde elected to use a dual-screen system that could balance shading, light diffusion, and thermal energy retention.

“We wanted a solution that would give us both energy savings and an even light distribution throughout the year,” says one team member. “PARperfect offered us the best balance between these priorities.”
At Mondo Verde, the bottom screen installed is a Harmony PARperfect climate screen, and the top screen is an OBSCURA 9950 FR W model, chosen for its favorable light control properties.
Installation and expected outcomes
SchermNed, which has collaborated with Mondo Verde on previous projects, led the climate screen installation in the new halls. The installation involved carefully aligning screen tracks and ensuring that the system provided complete, sealed coverage for the entire greenhouse structure.
“Everything went according to plan, and the dual screen system was installed smoothly,” says the SchermNed project lead. “We’re confident that Mondo Verde will see noticeable benefits in both energy efficiency and crop quality once the screens are fully in use.”
The team at Mondo Verde expects the new screen setup to contribute to:
Reduced energy demand in cold months
More homogeneous light distribution during the growing season
Improved overall crop performance
