Ludvig Svensson's business requires a license to operate. Each year our environmental report describes how the business has complied with the requirements and code of conduct of the Swedish Environmental Code and with the terms of our license. Our self-monitoring and associated control programme are part of our operating systems, which include documented procedures on how and what should be measured, monitored and followed up in accordance with our operating license. Every three years a periodical survey of our control programme is conducted by a third party together with the County Administrative Board and Mark Municipality.

Business in harmony with environmental objectives
Our ISO 14001 certified environmental management system is integrated with our operating system. We feel confident in the way our business operates owing to our constant identification of the environmental aspects of our business (which are significant in view of our operating license) and to operating according to our policy on the environment and safety, taking account of applicable laws and requirements. This enables us to have a clearer understanding of environmental aspects and the process of improvement further develops the company. We hope that this approach will reduce our impact on the environment and provide us with a more "sustainable" business concept. We need to identify environmental problems, trends and customer needs ourselves.
Our environmental and safety policy
At Ludvig Svensson, we take responsibility for a better environment by constantly working to make improvements and adhering to applicable legislation and regulatory requirements. In many cases, we exceed these requirements. Our work is based on a long-term and comprehensive approach. Specific goals, action plans and monitoring are a natural part of our day-to-day work.
Processes that place less strain on the environment are prioritised over other comparable alternatives. Environmental issues are taken into account when purchasing goods and services. Our environmental and safety policy should be communicated so that it is familiar to all employees. Our method of working with these issues needs to be supported across the organisation and documented in our operating systems. The President has overall responsibility for our environmental activities. The company and all its employees must aim to ensure a high level of protection for individuals and the work environment. No one should suffer from poor health or injury as a result of the work environment. We must also avoid damaging our environment. Employees receive regular environmental and safety training. We emphasise the importance of communication regarding changes or other factors that may lead to goals and action plans needing to be revised.
Positive environmental aspects
Textile operations are often associated with negative environmental aspects. The most significant environmental aspects for Ludvig Svensson are positive, since we make products that improve indoor climates and reduce energy consumption. Our environmental work involves interaction between our various activities and between the company and external contacts. The primary process is the environment itself, which means we have to look at those parts of our organisation's activities, products or services that may impact on the environment. Our product developers therefore work to constantly optimise the structure of fabrics to provide even greater sustainability. A long-term and sustainable approach to the use of dyes and patterns to ensure a long product life is another important factor. Our product developers respond to trends in this area and take an active role in the environmental debate. One example of this is our use of organic cotton and linen rather than conventionally grown materials.
