Over the course of 2011, the family-owned textile group, Ludvig Svensson, has invested extensively in order to consolidate its position as the Scandinavia’s leading producer of high-quality and functional textiles for the contract market. In September 2011, Väveriet in Uddebo was acquired. Its operations have since been transferred to Kinna, where they now form a part of the trademark portfolio together with Svensson Markspelle. The autumn also saw the launch of ludvigsvensson.com, the textile group's new functional and user-friendly website.
For architects and interior designers, this merger means a wider selection and a simpler purchasing process, since as of 2012 the product range will include a complete range of curtains, furniture fabrics and solar controlling fabrics that combine innovation with a good sense of form. Both Svensson Markspelle and Väveriet will however continue to exist as independent brands and their respective collections will be developed and produced separately. Production, warehousing and distribution are being relocated to Kinna.
"For us at Svensson Markspelle and Väveriet, this will mean both new colleagues and new exciting opportunities. Our customers will also have a limitless selection to choose from, with more structures and colours – especially in upholstery fabrics," says sales director Anders Snygg.
Two leading brands with a high design profile
Svensson Markspelle is the leading brand in Scandinavia for functional textiles for decorative use in public spaces. Solutions developed for environments that set particularly high demands in terms of quality, function and aesthetics – collections that stimulate creativity, enhance the working environment and save energy. The range includes curtains, upholstery fabrics and solar controlling fabrics.
By combining hundreds of years of weaving traditions and world-leading technology with special contributions from some of the best-known designers of our time, Väveriet has become one of Scandinavia's largest manufacturers of upholstery fabrics. The list of collaborators includes the Campana brothers, Marcel Wanders and Satyendra Pakhale.
Väveriet specialises in jacquard-woven upholstery fabrics. "Väveriet has a strong and exciting collection of upholstery fabrics, fantastic design collaborations and an interesting customer base in the transport sector, which will complement the Svensson Markspelle brand to make the collective range very attractive," concludes Anders Snygg.
Svensson Markspelle and Väveriet will be joining forces to exhibit at the 2012 Stockholm Furniture Fair. Also at the fair, the results of the Källemo chair competition will be unveiled. Welcome to our stand A31:10 February 7 at 12.00!
