Climate & Sustainability Workshop held in Querétaro, Mexico

On Thursday, May 19th representatives from Mexico’s horticultural sector attended an educational workshop organized by greenhouse industry leaders Svensson, Koppert Biological Systems and Priva.

The workshop, focused on climate and sustainability attracted over 60 growers, owners, and academic officials all active in the greenhouse segment throughout the state of Querétaro.

Speakers with international ties to the industry presented the latest technologies and practices relative to running a sustainable greenhouse operation.

Marcel Koole, Priva’s Business Solution consultant gave attendees an overview on the latest technological innovations to improve greenhouse and climate management, including Priva’s Top Crop Monitor amongst other new developments. Svensson Climate Consultant Hugo Plaisier discussed optimizing climate control using the latest screen technologies, recent screening trials, and how to shade on demand. Rogelio Castañeda Godoy, Senior Consultant at Koppert Biological solutions presented the latest sustainable crop protection trends and innovations.

Guests included growers from the nearby Agropark and other greenhouse operations in Querétaro and neighboring regions along with attendees from Tec de Monterrey (ITESM) and Universidad Autónoma de Querétaro (UAQ), two of the leading Universities in the state. All attendee were presented with diplomas following the workshop.

The greenhouse segment plays an important role in Mexico’s agricultural sector and such workshops hosted by leading international horticultural companies contribute to the development of the industry in Mexico.
