November 5th, Rijk Zwaan, Codema, Van der Hoeven, Hoogendoorn, and Svensson organized a seminar inviting nine women from the Australian horticultural industry. An event for sharing knowledge not only about sustainable and responsible production, but also the challanges of being a woman in a traditionally male-dominated sector like that of the horticulture industry.
Nine female Australian potato and vegetable growers gathered in the Netherlands for inspiration from well-known Dutch companies and Svensson, which is Swedish based.
Aside from a much appriciated seminar, guided tours at one pepper and one potplant nursery turned the event into a real success.
“Horticulture in Australia is still in the developing stage. I was impressed by the advanced Dutch technology. I look back at an inspirational day that encouraged me to find new ways to implement new cultivation methods at my own nursery."
